A Village of Many

Villagers Outpost had been an idea in the making since I was a kid going on camping trips in the early 90s. After 3 decades of visiting numerous forests, deserts, beaches and small towns throughout the west coast regions of the US and Mexico, I realized how little representation exists for "Latino / Hispanic" cultures amongst outdoor wear. The occasional tequila references and tee shirt quotes in Spanish just don't reflect true culture, my culture, OUR culture. 

These cultures are so diverse, it's difficult to embody each one with all their attributes. VILLAGERS OUTPOST was created to represent various cultures, not solely by our branding, but by the people that can proudly share a piece of their culture with all of us. As amazing as it is to see our apparel worldwide, we take pride in having each explorer share their culture and native lands with us. This is where the "outpost" in our name originated. We aim to reach VILLAGERS far and wide. 

Our ties to indigenous cultures are evident in our traditions, our food, our land and  our human features. As an LA native, considered one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world, I understand many of us are far from our original tribes from centuries ago. We are an endless drop down menu of mixed races with an ancestry report showing bloodlines from all over the world. Traveling to our native lands and experiencing the outdoors brings awareness and a connection to the places we come from and the people that came before us. It's an aspect of life that can only be experienced by physically being there. Whether it be the Mayan ruins in Mexico and Central America, or the many mountain ranges and rivers across the US. We owe it to ourselves and our ancestors to connect our stories.

VILLAGERS OUTPOST is determined to show the real roots of our cultures. Cultures that praised the natural aspects of life, even some naming gods in their honor. It's a beautiful world out there with so much to explore. We encourage everybody to step outside of their barrio, to get out of their comfort zone and the see the natural world. Together, we can demonstrate what it truly means to be gente in nature.
